Only start times with enough real UBC model data for the whole path are offered. Longer paths use recent model hours, not just future forecast hours. Zoom + / -, then tap the coloured ocean grid.

Upper 5 m currents averaged over each hour, on a roughly 500 m model grid. 24/48-hour paths use the latest trailing model window, so much of the line is recent model history rather than forecast. No wind drift, waves, floating-object behaviour or uncertainty band. Path stops at model land or missing data. Not search-and-rescue, navigation, a bait map or a bite forecast. Offshore west-coast waters are outside this model.

What the line means

A passive water point is stepped forward every30seconds using the nearest native model cell and changing hourly currents. This simple experiment has no claim of tracking a real object. It does not resolve every shoreline or channel.
